I once had the central heating in my apartment go down because of a part in the kettle being broken. Called the landlord who had Ohio State Buckeyes 2019 Big 10 Conference College Football Champions shirt sweater his plumber call me and he came by the same day. He found the problem and told me he'd order a new part, blablabla, it was going to take untill after the weekend untill it was fixed. I borrowed some space heaters from friends and took showers at my downstairs neighbors for the weekend and thought I'd try my luck. Sent the landlord a long e-mail saying that I felt like I had no obligation to pay rent that month because I had to buy space heaters, make extra expenses for taking showers and my electricity bill would be a lot higher due to poor maintenance, hoping he'd just half the rent or something.
