The new one just isn’t the same. Maybe it’s because of the lack of danger of just being in the building like you had in the old one. Or maybe it’s because now you don’t go All I Need Today is A Little Bit of Jack Skellington and A Whole Lot Of Jesus shirt smelling like mold and cigarettes. Ah, good times It had its place though. The community built around the emo lifestyle was toxic and self-deprecating, but the bands which they followed, the clothing, and the underground camaraderie were all fantastic. Maybe I’m just looking through my nostalgia glasses to a subculture I was never involved in though.
